Biography

Robert M. Brooks Sr. age 91 of Portage passed away on December 8, 2009 at his home with his loving family by his side. Born on August 3, 1918 in Ashmore, Illinois to the late Homer and Ethel Brooks. Robert married Helen Glumac on June 21, 1941 and from this union came four loving children. He was a carpenter by trade and a member of Union local # 1005. He was also a member of the Dunes Masonic Lodge of portage, where he compleated his 32nd degree. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Randall Brooks, June-Ella Brooks, and Clarice Bachinski. Survived by his loving wife; Helen Brooks of Portage. Sons; Robert M. Brooks Jr. of Westville, Michael A. (Carol) Brooks of Portage. Daughters; Marcia K. (David) Flanders of Monticello, In, Terry L. ( Julian) Cardona of Plano Texas. Brother; Herbert(Margorie) Brooks of Alabama. Sister; Agatha (Robert) Laramie of Portage. Robert had 7 loving grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday December 14, 2009 at 11 am in the Kraft Funeral Home 370 N. County Line Road Hobart, Indiana, with Chaplain Craig Forwalter officiating, entombment will follow in the Graceland Cemetery in Valparaiso. Friends may call on Sunday December 13, 2009 from 2pm-8pm at the Kraft Funeral Home in Hobart. Robert will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
